# Credits

> Understand request charges and the deferred billing launch.

New accounts receive 100 starter credits. Each endpoint's API reference lists its credit cost. A successful uncached request uses that amount. Cache hits use zero credits. Failed provider requests are refunded.

Insufficient balance returns HTTP 402 before an upstream request. Check your balance with `GET /v1/credits/balance` and review the credit ledger in your dashboard.

Paid checkout is not enabled yet. Stripe setup is deferred. Displayed paid plans are launch pricing, not an active subscription or purchase.
